Floating Events are events (like holidays or cultural events, like Father's day) that happen on a day rather than a date. Thanksgiving Day is an example of a "Floating" event. In the United States, Thanksgiving Day is celebrated on the third Thursday of November. It does not happen on the same date every year, so the event 'floats' among several dates in November.
Specifying a floating event in![]()
isn't trivial and is something that you have to keep re-calculating every year. With CEH you can specify the dates for such events quickly and easily
using the Floating event dialog screeen. Here is a screen shot of it:

Election day in the United States is the 1st Tuesday after the 1st Monday in November. Sounds pretty complicated doesn't it? Not so for CEH users. Simply specify the radio buttons in the order you would write the event date down. Under the "First Day" group box, select the "First" radio button. Just below it on the "1st Day of Week" group box, select the "Tuesday" radio button. Click on the "AFTER" checkbox in the middle of the dialog and proceed to the second day specification in the center of the dialog box. In the "Second Day" group box, click on the "First" radio button and then select "Monday" inside of the "2nd Day of Week" group box. Now you can "Select A Month" from the drop down list of months. Pick November and either click on "OK" or on the "Save and Create Another Floating Event". A string requestor will allow you to name the event, for example, "USA Election Day" and your event is ready to use.
Each year when you associate this event file (or several event files) with a calendar in ![]()
you will see the "USA Election Day" event "float" to the 1st Tuesday after the 1st Monday in November. And you don't have to recalculate it for the following year! Simply press the "Generate Calendar Wizard Event File" button from CEH. Apply it to your next year's calendar and you are ready to print!
