Fixed Events, or static events are holidays, anniversaries, birthdates or any other date that is fixed to a day of the year. Your birthday of the month is an example of a Fixed event. The United States celebrates its birthday on July 4th each year. It is fixed to a date. The day of the week the 4th of July falls on may change but not the date.
Event Files are
designed to handle just this kind of date.
But sometimes a date isn't quite as "fixed" as we would like. Lets use July 4th again as an example. The date (called the traditional event) occurs on the 4th of July, but like all peoples everywhere, the citizens of the United States like to celebrate their cultrual events on the Friday before or the Monday following the observed date. That is, the event should "Avoid Weekends". CEH allows you to specify just such events using the fixed event dialog. Here is a screen shot:

The date selector at the top of the dialog allows you to pick a specific (traditional event) date, choosing Month and Date and any year (the year is ignored of course). Once you have selected the date, you may choose to force the date to "Avoid Weekends" or not by whether you check the "Avoid Weekends" checkbox just under the date selector. Click on OK and CEH will allow you to name your new event.
CEH gives you the capability
of editing your events to change names, correct spelling, change the date, remove the event, etc. This is not just
a direct edit of the event file found in![]()
This a complete change as to the nature of the event. You may even change an event from Fixed in nature to Floating in nature; quickly, easily and fairly painlessly!
